A second home only works if it is easy to reach. For buyers in North America and the Gulf, Mallorca gets easier in 2027. Three airlines that fly long-haul into Palma have announced an earlier start to the season, more flights each week, or both.
New York: from Easter, then daily
United Airlines flies nonstop between Newark and Palma. In 2027 the season starts on 28 March, around Easter and about two months earlier than before. It begins with three flights a week and moves to a daily flight for the summer, on a Boeing 767-400ER. In 2026 the route ran four times a week.
The flight leaves New York in the late afternoon and lands in Palma the next morning.
Montreal: a month earlier, four a week
Air Canada launched Montreal–Palma in June 2026 with three flights a week. In 2027 it returns in May, a month earlier, with four flights a week in the peak summer and a larger aircraft. Montreal is Air Canada’s hub, so travellers from other Canadian and US cities can connect there with one stop.
Abu Dhabi: from mid-May, four a week
Etihad opened Abu Dhabi–Palma in June 2026 with three flights a week. In 2027 the route starts on 16 May, a month earlier, and grows to four flights a week, on an Airbus A321LR with premium cabins. The airline has said it hopes to fly daily by 2028. Abu Dhabi also connects Palma with much of the Gulf and Asia.
And all year, one stop
Outside these seasons, most travellers come through Madrid or Barcelona, with flights to Palma of just over an hour, or through Frankfurt, Paris and other European hubs. Palma’s airport is about 15 minutes by car from the city centre.
Why it matters for a home here
More direct flights mean shorter trips are worth taking: a long weekend, a viewing, a week at your own home in May instead of only in August. For owners who let their home, it also means more guests who can reach the island easily in spring and autumn.
Schedules are announced by the airlines and can change. Check the current timetable before you book.
